Coombend Olives
Tasmania’s olive industry is relatively new with commercial plantings commencing in the mid 1990’s. At Coombend our 4,000 trees were planted in 1996 and are now mature. The majority of trees planted at Coombend are the oil varieties Correggiola and Frantoio but there is also a small grove of selected eating olive varieties. Tasmania’s cool climate is not only excellent for the production of high quality sparkling and still table wines, but also lends itself to the production of superior quality olive oil. Tasmania’s long winter dormancy and slow ripening fruit creates an unsurpassed nutritional product with great flavour.
